Insider's Guide to... Writing for TV (one-day course)
The course in April 2007 was sold out and generated great
feedback. See below for a selection of comments.
Who is it for?
The course is for anyone that wants to write for TV or
who want a career in screenwriting.
How does it work?
This is a one-day course with lunch.
So, could you become a professional TV drama writer?
Absolutely! Adrian Mead made the journey from hairdresser
and bouncer to a full-time TV and film writer without having
any contacts in the business. Now he is represented by ICM,
is currently writing for the BBC drama "Waking The
Dead" and last year won a BAFTA for his first feature
film. How did he do it? What was his secret?
Adrian states, "The most exciting moment for me was
when I realised that writing isn't MAGIC. It's not some
unfathomable, mystical process only gifted to a rare few.
Screenwriting is a craft. You can learn how to do it. You
can hone and improve your skills. What astounded me was
NO ONE teaches what happens next. How do you get a job?
How do you get an agent? Exactly what does everyone expect
of you once they hire you? What do professional writers
DO?" Right now you are most likely failing to achieve
your dream, not because of a lack of talent, but because
you don't have the RIGHT INFORMATION. This class is a highly
focused and up to the minute guide to what you need to do
to become a professional screenwriter.
The Insider's Guide to Writing for TV will show you how
to
- avoid the simple mistakes that result in work being
rejected
- identify the type of projects broadcasters are currently
looking for
- get an agent
- make the transition from your present job to full time
writer
- manage your career
- conduct yourself in meetings
- deal with feedback and rewrites
- build relationships within the industry
Price
The course fee is £ 85. The fee includes all materials,
lunch and light refreshments.
